Asaf Elkalai was born in Kerem Ben Zimra (1986), currently based in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Artist, lecturer and teacher in the fields of installation, sculpture, photography, print and video.
His works are exhibited in museums in Israel and around the world and part of important collections such as The Israel Museum, The Tel Aviv Museum and more.
Elkalai Graduated with honors BA and MFA from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, and Art Education studies at The Hebrew University.
Elkalai has won many awards, including the prestigious Eluvik Award, the Young Artist Award from the Ministry of Culture and Sports, and more.
He participated programs and residences as "Skowhegan" exclusive artist residency in Maine (USA), Residency program at the School of Multidisciplinary Art, Shenkar (IL) the FINE Artist in Residence at Pittsburgh (USA), the artist residency program of the Jewish Art Center at Buffalo (USA), “Investigate Ways of Living” by Andrea Zittel at California (USA), “Aesthetics and Bias” at Poznan (Poland), EAU & GAZ Artist Residency at Italy.
